Your information
Privacy policy.
This policy explains how RegFinder handles information when you use the RegFinder website and applications for Android, iOS, Windows and macOS.
Last updated 20 August 2026Who we are
RegFinder provides tools for finding, comparing, valuing and advertising UK vehicle registrations. In this policy, “RegFinder”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the RegFinder service and its developer.
For privacy questions or requests, email admin@regfinder.uk.
Information we handle
Searches and app requests
When you search or request a valuation, the search word, selected filters and registration details needed to provide the requested result are sent to our servers. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles.
Trader accounts and listings
If you use the trader features, we collect the name, email address and optional telephone number you provide, verification and session information, and details of registrations you submit or manage. Listing details may include a registration, price, keyword, contact or purchase link and listing status.
Beta testing and support
If you apply to test RegFinder or contact us, we collect the details you submit, such as your name, email address, platform, device information and message, so that we can respond and manage testing.
Technical information
Our servers may automatically receive standard technical information such as IP address, request date and time, requested page or service, response status and basic device or browser information. This is used to operate, secure and diagnose the service.
Information stored on your device
The app may store preferences and session tokens on your device so that settings and verified trader access can be retained. Desktop beta builds may also store a randomly generated device identifier and activation token for licence verification.
How we use information
- To provide searches, comparisons, valuations and dictionary results.
- To create and verify trader access and manage trader listings.
- To administer beta testing, answer support enquiries and communicate about the service.
- To prevent misuse, protect accounts and maintain the security and reliability of RegFinder.
- To meet legal obligations and enforce our terms where necessary.
Sharing and third parties
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for third-party advertising.
We may use hosting, infrastructure and email providers to operate RegFinder. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect rights or safety, or in connection with a transfer of the service subject to appropriate safeguards.
RegFinder search results may link to the DVLA, eBay or independent traders. When you follow a link or continue with a seller, that third party handles your activity under its own privacy policy. RegFinder is not responsible for third-party websites or their data practices.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. RegFinder connections use HTTPS where supported, access to administrative systems is restricted, and account access uses verification and session tokens. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Retention and deletion
We keep personal information only while it is needed for the purpose described in this policy, to operate and secure the service, or to meet legal requirements. Trader account and listing information is retained while the account or listing remains active and for a reasonable period afterwards. Beta and support correspondence is retained while testing or the enquiry is active and for a reasonable administrative period. Routine server records and backup copies are deleted or overwritten according to our operational retention cycle.
Traders can request deletion of their account and associated data from the verified trader panel in the RegFinder app or through our account deletion page. You may also request access, correction or deletion by emailing admin@regfinder.uk. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Some information may be retained where required for security, legal compliance or the establishment or defence of legal claims.
You can remove locally stored app information by signing out where available, clearing the app’s data or uninstalling the app.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to its use, and to receive a portable copy. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office or your local data-protection authority.
Children
RegFinder is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so that we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when RegFinder or its legal obligations change. The current version will remain available on this page and the “Last updated” date will show when it changed.
